Dental Implants

When teeth are lost they can be replaced using dental Implants. A dental implant is a titanium, root shaped object, placed into the space where the tooth used to be in order to make a working realistic replacement tooth. Implants are usually done in two phases:

Surgical Phase or Initial Placement

The implant is inserted into the site where the original tooth was lost and covered to heal and integrate into the tissues. The implant heals into place and becomes solid like a tooth and can then be restored to look and feel like teeth.

The Restorative Phase

Includes uncovering the healed implant and placing an abutment on which a crown or prosthetic tooth can be fitted. The final result is a tooth that functions and feels like your own. Most dentists agree that dental implants are the future of modern dentistry.
